Job Description:

MSF-OCA is looking for a short term Watsan Supervisor position for   Northern Sindh Flood Response, based Jacobabad City and operating in Jacobabad and Kashmoore districts  MSF offers a competitive package including (salary, leaves, medical coverage, training and career) and the opportunity to work for an internationally renowned humanitarian organization.

Summary of position:

Supporting the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (Watsan) Manager in the implementation and supervision of Watsan activities, including tools and materials employed according to MSF standards and protocols, in order to improve health

and living conditions of the target population

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing construction projects including supervision of multiple contractors to ensure compliance of technical specifications/drawings.
  • Preparing construction contracts and bill of quantities (BoQ)
  • Participating in Watsan assessments including GPS/GIS mapping of Watsan activities
  • Data management – transferring and recording Watsan field/assessment data to computers (Microsoft Excel)
  • Supporting the Watsan Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training). Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits
  • Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Watsan activities at project level, including but not limited to,  water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management
  • Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Watsan teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project;
  • Managing construction projects including supervision of multiple contractors to ensure compliance of technical specifications/drawings.
  • Preparing construction contracts, bill of quantities (BoQ)
  • Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Watsan activities;  

Requirements for the position:

Education:

Technical diploma, desirable specialization in water and sanitation and/or civil engineering

Experience:

Previous experience in technical works and organising of multiple activities, construction experience (working with contractors, contract/BoQ preparation), preferably within MSF or similar work environment. Experience with GPS/GIS

Language:

English and local language essential         

Competencies

Computer literacy
